Monty and Milli

7th March 2012 by Tim Warnes

Iʼm delighted that Chalk & Cheese are to feature in the exciting Team Cul de Sac book project, raising funds for The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinsonʼs research. The book, which includes contributions from Bill Watterson (Calvin & Hobbes), Jim Davis (Garfield) and children’s illustrator Mo Willems, is in honour of Richard Thompson, the cartoonist behind Cul de Sac, who is currently undergoing treatment for the disease.

On the picture book front, Monty and Milli – The Totally Amazing Magic Trick! , has just been published by Little Tiger Press. Itʼs a tale of mice, magic and good old fashioned sibling rivalry! Meanwhile Iʼm developing some of my own story ideas, so watch this space…

a bit about us

We studied illustration together at Brighton University, graduating in 1993. Since then we've got married, had a couple of kids, and collectively illustrated over 150 books.

Although we work separately on our own commissions, we constantly refer to each other for advice when we get stuck. For instance, Jane is definitely better at perspective and providing cake, whereas Tim knows how to work the scanner and type an invoice.

We share a studio in rural Dorset, UK near the Jurassic Coast, with cows, rabbits, and badgers for neighbours.

Together we are CHAPMAN AND WARNES (a bit like Batman and Robin, but with less crime fighting and no capes)!

We would love to hear from you:
