Cuddle, Anyone?

22nd July 2015 by Jane Chapman

What news? I’m trying out different painting styles at the moment in the hope that I can get away from teeny tiny brushes for a while! I haven’t shown anyone my efforts yet, but hopefully I’ll have something worthwhile soon. I seem to spend most of my time cooking for hungry boys…

FINALLY Fish on a Dish! has hit the shops! Oh, how I love this book with its’ peep through holes, shaped pages and massive, surprise gatefold spread. The text is fast and pacy, and the chase starts on page one for our fishy hero. But how will he escape those hungry penguins? You’ll have to read it to find out!

Then there’s No More Cuddles! We’ve all been on the receiving end of an untimely cuddle, but imagine if you were so soft and fluffy that you could never get away from being stroked and snuggled and fuzzed and fluffed. That’s what life is like for Barry, a Bigfoot in a forest full of hug-hungry bunnies. Poor Barry can’t find any peace and quiet. He’s desperate for a bit of Me Time…

a bit about us

We studied illustration together at Brighton University, graduating in 1993. Since then we've got married, had a couple of kids, and collectively illustrated over 150 books.

Although we work separately on our own commissions, we constantly refer to each other for advice when we get stuck. For instance, Jane is definitely better at perspective and providing cake, whereas Tim knows how to work the scanner and type an invoice.

We share a studio in rural Dorset, UK near the Jurassic Coast, with cows, rabbits, and badgers for neighbours.

Together we are CHAPMAN AND WARNES (a bit like Batman and Robin, but with less crime fighting and no capes)!

We would love to hear from you:
