Christmas Is On It’s Way…

27th October 2015 by Jane Chapman

Goodnight Manger is the first nativity story I’ve illustrated in 20 or so years. The text is fantastic – all about how difficult it is to get a crying baby to sleep when you have a stable full of visitors. Laura Sassi (author) pitches the perfect tone for Christmas, but I have to admit, I did find the painting hard! The writing is SO good, I had a bit of a confidence crisis about my ability to do the book justice. Have a look and see what you think.

Finally, I’m delighted to report that BEAR SEES COLORS has received a nomination in the 2015 Missouri Building Block Awards! And good news for you BEAR fans – Karma Wilson and I are developing the pre-school series further, with an opposites book  currently on my easel…

a bit about us

We studied illustration together at Brighton University, graduating in 1993. Since then we've got married, had a couple of kids, and collectively illustrated over 150 books.

Although we work separately on our own commissions, we constantly refer to each other for advice when we get stuck. For instance, Jane is definitely better at perspective and providing cake, whereas Tim knows how to work the scanner and type an invoice.

We share a studio in rural Dorset, UK near the Jurassic Coast, with cows, rabbits, and badgers for neighbours.

Together we are CHAPMAN AND WARNES (a bit like Batman and Robin, but with less crime fighting and no capes)!

We would love to hear from you:
